    Hi Rick,

Recommend to start with a fresh version of Live, Max and PULL. It sounds like there is some serious problem with one of your installations, as this should not be happening.

Try using first without the Sigabort fix, and then install the fix once everything is working.

    Simply:

    Install Live 9.1.7
    Install Max 7
    Install PULL v2.2

Go to the PULL v2.2 zip file, extract all the files and drag the PULL v2.2.amxd into your Live Set.

Then set up your Lemur to connect to the amxd

    Cheers

    Hi Rick,

You shouldnt have to authorise Max For Live. I would recommend to get the latest version from the Cycling74 website Max 7. You simply install the latest Ableton, then install the latest Max (Max 7). Then in your Ableton preferences select your Max 7 location.

Max for Live is free to use in Ableton Live. You dont need to authorise it or anything to use PULL, or any other Max Device.

You only have to authorise/pay for Max 7 if you want to “edit” devices (and even then you could use Max 6 for that for free).

PULL is pretty straight forward to install. Just install Max, use the installer for PULL, then drag the AMXD into Live and set up your Lemur app over the network.

There’s a new version of PULL out today. It’s significantly optimised (Faster in nearly every way) – Read more here – http://www.xmonsta.com/new-releases/pull-updated-to-v2-2/

    Hi Rick,

There are 2 documents to help get you started included within the downloaded .zip file. Theres a quick start tutorial, but it sounds like you might need to read the full documentation in the /Docs/ folder.

Once you have installed PULL, there is a file inside the .zip with the ending .AMXD (this is a max for live device, to be used in Ableton). Drag this into your live set. Then follow the instructions in the manual for setting up PULL. You might want to store the AMXD inside you Ableton Library. If you go to Max Devices in your browser and right click, you can find where they are located.

    Hi Rick,

By not showing up, do you mean the template doesnt get sent to the ipad when your press “large template”, or “small template” button? This could mean your network isnt set up properly. In the AMXD IP address field you have to put your iPad IP address.

If you right click at the top of the AMXD and click “open max window” you might see some errors in there? If the network isnt working, it will say “connection timeout” or something similar.

Feel free to contact us at support[at]xmonsta[dot]com . It might be easier to resolve over email.

Hi Andreas, sorry I should have been clearer, I meant the support email. Youll get a zippier/better response from us there – support@xmonsta.com

In order to help we need the following:

    OS version
    Ableton version
    Max version
    Lemur version

It seems as though your external isnt working properly. There should be a file called PULL.maxpat in your either your installation zip, or inside your Max folder. Open this by double clicking it. It will allow communication for VSTs. In the meantime, we shall try to work out why your external isnt opening. Contact support email with all the requested information and we’ll be able to help.

    Cheers

    Hi Patrick,

    It should be inside http://www.xmonsta.com/my-account/

There are installers for every OS and max version now.

    Hi Lars,

We’ve now fixed this problem in PULL, so there is no need to workaround. We will update PULL in the next couple of days with a new release.

Spire is nearly finished, a few days/ 2 weeks max. It’s great because spire has every single parameter available, and with our new xPlugin software every parameter can be automated and a faithful template can be created!

    Hi Lars,

If you can contact support[at]xmonsta[dot]com we might be able to help with a workaround for the time being, while we look for a more permanent solution in PULL.

    Hi Lars,

When you “configure” those parameters in Live are the names exactly the same? Do you have two “configured” parameter sliders, one for each Tune and Tune depth?

If this is the case, then PULL cannot differentiate between parameters that are the same name (because it uses the name as a reference). It is not very often that this happens (there are very few VST that name their parameters the same names). We have a new program we will release soon called xPlugin which will overcome this problem. We may also update PULL to be able to handle this problem, but it will be some way off (it’s quite a complex problem to solve).

However, it could be that the “Tune depth” parameter controls the “Tune” parameter in some way. If this is the case, then it may be possible, but there may be some complex Lemur coding involved.

    Cheers

Hi Moon Matrix, there is always going to be some editing involved in order to make your templates. Each parameter on a VST works in a different way. For instance, a sync button for an LFO may have 8 steps. Whereas a volume parameter may go from 0-127. There is no way to programmatically know what these values are (we are only given floats in Max 0-1). Luckily there is no Max programming involved, so everything can be done in Lemur. You just have to set your scale, your steps etc according to each parameter youre trying to control and it works.

If you dont fancy working in Lemur and the time it takes to make the templates, we will make templates available from our shop. We will do some bundles as well, so you can get all VST’s in one.

    Hi immon,

PULL works using OSC over wifi. We aren’t developing any alternative connections because from our experience the other connections are no different to OSC over wifi.

If youre device is jailbroken you can always use the mywi app (but we cannot recommend to jailbreak your device). In all honesty I dont think youll see any difference between hardwired and wifi.

Is there something specific that you’re wanting to do with PULL?

    Hi Mike,

The VST and Max Device templates should work just in the same way that the Ableton Native Device templates work. As long as the OSC address is correct for each parameter. If it’s sending, it should be receiving as well – but we’ll definitely check it out to make sure. You might just want to check the CamelCrusher template as an example, to see if that is getting feedback properly.

For Reaktor templates, if you have JBridge, what you could do is to create a .dll (win), or .vst (mac) with jbridge. Then (if you’re on win use .dll, and for mac, .vst) rename the jbridge file to “Reaktor_Slayer.dll” , then also rename the txt file that jbridge creates to the same “Reaktor_Slayer.txt” . So when you drag “Reaktor_Slayer.dll” into your set it will open reaktor under a different name, and trigger PULL to load the “Slayer” template. You will need to call your Slayer template “Reaktor_Slayer.jzlib” for it to load. What you can do then is to group and save your “Reaktor_Slayer.dll” as a rack, making sure to configure all the parameters you need. This way all you’ll need to do is to drag the rack into your set and it will automatically load the PULL template 🙂

We’re working on a better solution for this, but it’s likely to take some time. We will never be able to change the name of the VST files, so we might create our own VST wrapper (a bit like Jbridge), or make a menu selector come up on the Lemur when Reaktor is selected, where you get to choose from the available Reaktor templates.

    Hope this helps

    Hi Derek,

The port on the left hand side of your Lemur settings show your iPad IP/Port – this is uneditable.

The IP/Port should be entered into the field “OSC Target” (The IP field is right next to it – in the middle of the screen and the port on the right hand side of the screen).

    Here is an example: http://www.xmonsta.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/LemurSettings.png

The areas in red are where your IP/Port should go. We will add this to the manual shortly.

No, as long as you have Max 6.1.8 or higher installed, you should just be able to use the installer. If you have previously installed PULL, the installer will overwrite any files in your max installation and should just work.
